Waypoint 2 of 10
What Is Faith?
Every journey begins with a single step. Faith is that step — a trust in something greater than yourself, a confidence in what you cannot yet fully see.
Key Scripture
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.
— Ephesians 2:8
Faith Is Not Blind
Many people think of faith as believing something without any reason. But the Christian understanding of faith is different. Faith is a confident trust — grounded in scripture, history, and personal experience — that God is real, that He loves you, and that He has acted in the world through Jesus Christ.
The Bible defines faith this way: "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see." (Hebrews 11:1) It is not wishful thinking. It is a settled trust in a God who has proven Himself faithful.
What Does Faith Look Like?
Faith is not just a feeling or a one-time decision. It is a living, growing relationship with God. It shows up in how you pray, how you read the Bible, how you treat others, and how you face difficulty. Faith grows as you learn more about who God is and experience His presence in your life.
You do not need to have everything figured out before you begin. Faith often starts with a simple, honest prayer: "God, I don't fully understand, but I want to know You." That is enough to start.
Faith and Doubt
Doubt is not the opposite of faith — it is often part of it. Many of the greatest figures in the Bible wrestled with doubt: Thomas, David, even John the Baptist. God does not reject honest questions. He invites them. Bringing your doubts to God is itself an act of faith.
If you are unsure, uncertain, or just beginning to explore — you are in exactly the right place. This journey is for you.
Where Does Faith Come From?
The Bible teaches that faith is a gift from God, not something you manufacture on your own. As you read Scripture, pray, and open your heart, God works in you to produce faith. You do not have to force it — you simply have to be willing.
"So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ." (Romans 10:17) That is why this journey matters — every step you take brings you closer to the God who is already reaching toward you.
Your journey doesn't end here.
